XD Series Custom Rims Are Built Purpose

Submitted by benpate

There\'s a need out there for good-looking wheels and rims that can do dual-duty in an off-road capacity. Truck and SUV enthusiasts don\'t want to be left out of the fashion and style game when it comes to their own rides. To address this, KMC Wheel Company came up with a good solution in a purpose-built lineup they\'re offering. In this case, XD Series wheels and rims deliver for trail or street in every instance.

Size depends on need. All of the various wheels and rims offered in the XD Series line are built with a purpose in mind. It can be strictly for a set of 15 inch SUV or truck wheels that never leave the street. It can also be for some rollers that are going to be bolted on and then thrown out on the muddy trail, in the case of some of the 20 to 24 inchers available in the lineup. Even the most basic trucks or SUVs, including \"dualie\" types, will benefit.

Any difference? Wheels and rims, in reality, have almost no differences between them. It\'s true that truck wheels have a few technical characteristics, sometimes, that can differentiate a rim from a wheel, but that\'s about it. Overall, it\'s more a matter of personal preference when you call one of these units a wheel or a rim. For the most part, you hear the word \"rim\" from vehicle custom tuner enthusiasts who wouldn\'t be caught dead calling their rolling stock anything but rims.

The old reliable. Steel as the material used to make a wheel or rim was \"the old reliable\" for years and years. It could take a lot of punishment, especially when it was made for a truck or SUV, and it tended not to rust out over time. That steel wheels could also be heavy on some occasions and in some uses really didn\'t matter to the average truck owner.

Aluminum wheels and rims. Soon enough, manufacturers began to see the benefits of using metal alloys like aluminum to produce wheels and rims. It was lighter and could be just as durable, and it couldn\'t rust. Plus, you can do things with shaping and coloring in a wheel or rim that you couldn\'t with more traditional steel.

Never let up on the grip. XD Series wheels and rims are purpose made, with any number of lugs required, depending on the size of the wheel or rim. Starting out in 15 inch styles, with 5 or 6 lugs, they can run all the way up to 24 inchers. These usually take a 7 or 8 lug pattern set-up.

Look good while looking muddy. The KMC Wheel Company\'s XD Series lineup can make even the muddiest and dirtiest of off-road vehicles give off a bit of style and rugged good looks. And lifted or raised trucks benefit even more, due to the specific models offered for use on those high-riding machines. And dualie owners out there won\'t feel left out, either, considering a few of the good-looking wheels and rims XD has made available for their trucks.
