Can I Contract Hire a BMW?Submitted by Chriss Tyrrell Sat, 25 Jul 2009
The simple answer to whether or not you can contract hire a BMW is yes. However; before you run right out and sign your name on the dotted line of the first contract that is set before you, you do need to consider a few items. First and foremost on your list is whether or not a contract hire BMW is in fact the best option for you.
Is a Contract Hire BMW Your Best Option? Sure there are definite benefits of going the contract hire route but for some people, these benefits simply don't apply. However; for those that they do, a contract hire is the optimal route to take. For instance, consider that at the end of your contract hire agreement you won't be given the option of purchasing the automobile. Forget About Driving a Customized Car You simply turn it in and its "good-bye" forever. So of course this means that if you're the type that may be into customizing your vehicle in any way, a contact hire may not be your best option. For one thing even if you wanted to, your contract would prohibit you from altering or adding to the vehicle in any way. The Plus Side of Driving a Contract Hire BMW However; if you're the type who prefers to drive a nice new late model, stock BMW, who also doesn't want to deal with trade-ins or re-sales then a contract hire BMW is one way to see all that done. Also if you're not going to be driving excessive miles in your car then that also would make a contract hire BMW the more enticing option. Mileage Terms of Your Contract Do Impact Your Payments You see, one thing that you need to consider carefully is that your contract will have the number of miles that you can drive the vehicle written into the contract. If it is a yearly contract then it will be say 10,000 - 30,000 miles per year, depending on the terms. Naturally the lower the miles, the lower your payments will be. The Longer the Term of Your Contract, the Lower Your Payments Other contract terms that will have a direct impact on your monthly payments are items like the actual length of the contract. Typically contracts usually run between 24 -36 months but the fact is that if you're willing to pay, you can contract a BMW for as short a term as even 3 months. You see, the longer the term of your contract, the lower your monthly payments. Understand Early Return Penalties in Your Contract Be aware however, that long 36+ monthly contracts can be a "double edged sword." That's because almost without exception, all of the longest contracts will contain in them a clause for early return penalties. What this means is that if you for some you reason find yourself in a position where you can't or choose not to continue on with the car prior to the contract terminating, you can get stuck with a bill of some 50% - 70% of the remaining monthly payments.
