Your car engine converts chemical energy into mechanical energy. And if the weight of the pulley is reduced then significant savings are made. Engine pulleys or light pulleys give the same performance as stock pulleys but they weigh less. Therefore less energy is required to turn them. And that helps your car engine deliver more mechanical energy for propelling your car. Which in a layman's terms is referred to as better engine performance.
