Five Things You Must Inspect Before Buying a Used Car

Purchasing a car is an investment that needs to take some thought and consideration. Swift purchases usually become I wish I hadn't purchases. The following are tips to purchasing a used care especially if you are buying from the present time owner.

Tip 1: Ask the owner if you may see the title. Make sure the name on the title is the same as the name of the person selling the vehicle. If not ask why.

Tip2: Ask about the maintenance of the vehicle and ask to see all previous maintenance records. Call the company that did the work and see if any other work was done that you don't know about. Ask the mechanic that did the work for his or her opinion of the car.

Tip 3: Test drive the vehicle and listen for any odd sounds and pay close attention to how the automobile handles. If you notice any odd sounds ask the owner how long it has been making these sounds and if they have had a licensed mechanic look at it. If the handling isn't the way you feel it should then take into consideration the age of the vehicle. If it isn't very old contact a licensed mechanic and explain the issue(s). Next, ask his or her opinion on what it may be and what the cost may be to fix it. If the cost of repairing is more than what you feel comfortable paying then continue car shopping.

Tip 4: Find out if the car has been in an accident. You can use the car's VIN number to find out this information. The VIN number is located on the driver's side front of the dash up against the windshield. It is stamped into a piece of metal. Once you have this number you can go to several internet sites and type it in to find out the vehicle's history.

Tip 5: Weigh your odds. Once you have found out all the information listed above make a decision. Decide if the cost of the automobile is worth what it will cost for the maintenance to make it a safe dependable ride. In come cases, if the vehicle has had previous work then it has new parts, and with the newer parts the same problem shouldn't arise again for a while.

Purchasing a car should be fun. Take your time and do your homework. JDByrider, Knoxville used cars, will take the guess work out of the process and make sure you get a dependable used car that is fun to drive and a payment that meets your budget.
