Car head lights are good enough for driving in the night. They provide enough visibility to give a clear view of the road under normal conditions. However, if it is foggy or misty better illumination is needed. Special fog lights have been developed for use in such conditions. They make you see properly even under adverse weather conditions. Seeing clearly on the road is a necessary requirement for driving safely. Fog lights contribute to safer driving in a big way.

Fog lights are able to penetrate the atmosphere better than ordinary lights under foggy conditions. There have been a number of innovations in the field of fog lights. There are halogen lights, or LED lights, as well as high intensity discharge lamps. Their range is almost the same as of low beam lights. Fog lights are mounted in a vehicle just below the headlights. These are projected at a level lower than low beam lights. There are high-level lights as well, but for them special lenses are used so that the drivers of oncoming vehicles are not inconvenienced.

The next important consideration is what color of light is most suitable in fog lights. A single color light is preferred over white light. White light is made up of different colors so it tends to get dispersed in different directions due to water vapor present in the atmosphere. Red would be the best color to use, as red light can penetrate a longer distance in fogy conditions. However, it is not in use, as it can create confusion. Red color light is being used for stopping vehicles and therefore use of that color will not be advisable for use in fog light. The next best color is yellow which is mostly in use. Lights of a purplish color are also used now. These are high intensity fog lights.

Fog lights provide better safety under poor visibility conditions. Moreover they do serve another purpose as well, they also add style to your car and look great along with other products such as car body kits. Fog lights of different intensities and colors are available in the market. For more information you can go to www.ilovebodykits.com.
