Tyre care and maintenance is an integral part of car care. Every car is looked for its interiors and exteriors but most of time car owners neglect the most essential part of the car, and that’s the car tyres.

Car tyres also play a significant role in improving car performance and fuel-efficiency. Therefore, it should be checked at regular intervals of time so that the life can be increased and wear can be reduced. It also rewards drivers and car owners with greater safety, better road holding, enhanced driving experience, more comfort and, eventually, saving on running cost.

Here are the three main factors that influence life of the tyres:

• Under-inflation is one of the main causes of rapid wear, uneven tread, and premature tyre failure.
• Overloading is likely to place an additional pressure on the car wheels to pull the car. Excessive strain on the wheels results in overheating with greater susceptibility to tyre damage.
• Speeding also puts excessive strain on the tyres which again leads to overheating. Well-maintained tyres can withstand the heat build-up at maximum speeds.

Here are some of the best tips to tyre care and maintenance:

• Always buy the right size and shape of car tyres. Every car model is designed to be equipped with a particular size of tyre and wheel.
• Replace old tyres when you signs of wear, cracks or cuts on the surface. Usually, tyres have a life of about 10 years.
• Check the air pressure of the tyres in accordance to the recommendations of car manufacturers.
• Clean tyres well with soap and water to remove the foreign substances from the tread. These deposits on the surface hamper the performance of the car.
• Check wheel alignment to ensure proper alignment of wheels with each other as well as with the road.
• Examine the condition of brakes if your car tyres show any signs of wear through wheel locking.
• Wheel balancing is also important if there are signs of vibrations and mismatching of wheel movements.
• Improve your driving habits as that puts a greater influence on he tyre life and condition. Rash driving and frequent braking contribute to rapid and excessive wear and tear.
• Don’t try to pull the car much after tyre puncture. This will damage the tyre completely. Search for some of the best ways to prevent tyre rupture.
