The sizzling hatchback Honda Jazz was launched at a glittering function in New Delhi. Globally the Honda Jazz has been available since 2001, but the vehicle entering the country now bears a unique ‘Made for India' title. Honda Jazz is known as the Fit in United States. Based on the highly successful City sedan, Honda is launching the new car Jazz from a position of strength. Jazz is the first small car offering from Honda Motors for the Indian car market.
Some auto analysts call the Jazz a mini MPV owing to its unique cab forward design and spacious interiors. But actually it is a five door hatchback which has its roots firmly set in the Honda ethics - comfort and performance. Honda achieved the exemplary space in the cabin by fitted the large fuel tank under the front seats. Jazz is powered by the 1.2 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine which delivers 89 bhp power and 110 Nm of torque, zooming past Maruti Suzuki Ritz which is also fitted with a 1.2litre K12M engine. The engine is mated to a responsive 5-speed manual gear box that feels light and shifts smoothly between points. The progressive clutch completes the trio of three biggest advantages on a Jazz. Infact, Jazz gets the same engine as the 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine fitted in Honda City which helped it gain a reputation for performance and fuel economy. Honda's variable valve timing system (VVT) perfectly balances the power output and performance. As per the reports released by Automotive Research Association of India, Honda Jazz engine is capable of offering 16.1 km/l of fuel economy. The engine is tuned to meet Euro IV emission norms. In order to be more environment friendly the engine is made E10 compatible to allow use of bio-fuels. Honda Jazz is available in three variants - the base model, Mode and Active. The prices for Jazz start with Rs 6.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The mid-range mode that feature more family utility features like the body side moulding, corner protectors to prevent scratches, mud flaps and funky lit garnishes on the side steps. The top end Active features sport pedals, steering wheel with mounted audio controls, air conditioner with heater, large front fog lamps and a spoiler on the top end of the tailgate. The dashboard is loaded with a neat layout of button and switches for various functions. It combines practicality and styles in a fine blend. The steering wheel is borrowed from the new Honda City. The stylish dash is typical of the Honda's. The large face dials on the instrument cluster feature bold markings that are easy to rear in the darkness. The big knobs are easy to operate. Jazz offers the unique magic seats that allow versatile utility of the rear space behind the front seats. The seats can be folded up or flip folded down to created a flat floor to store long items. The car truly excels on the passenger space and comfort factor. The prices of the Honda Jazz start from Rs 6.98 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The mid range Jazz Mode is costlier by Rs 30,000 and the top end Active comes with a price tag that is Rs 35,000 more than the base model.
