How To Defend Your Car

Submitted by moshayedi

According to a survey every 24 seconds a car is stolen in the United States. Despite new anti-theft technology being introduced every year cars are stolen. We will learn what methods car thief uses to steal a car and how we can avoid it. Knowing their tricks will help you to take necessary precautions to defend your vehicle.

Always keep the valuables out of their sight. Carry the valuables with you even if you are going for a second to the departmental store or store them in the truck. Don’t just lock your steering wheel but also lock your car’s ability to go by using a starter disable switch and keeping it in a place which can be seen only by you. Install the car alarm by a professional car alarm installer. Don’t put stickers on the car regarding what kind of car alarm or audio system you have installed. Install hood lock cable in your car so that thief can’t get to your battery or car alarm. Always keep the keys with you instead of it being dangling in the ignition. Car theft can be done in a few seconds so don’t give chance to thieves to steal your car. Never keep your personal information in the car. Always keep your registration and insurance information with you. Today’s thieves are very intelligent they know where you hide your spare keys. So don’t keep spare keys in the car or in a magnetic box that is attached in the underside of your car. Always park your car in lots or garages that have security. Try to pay that extra couple of dollars
for a parking lot instead of using free parking. If a crook really wants your car he will do it even if you have car alarms or steering wheel locks in your car. But if you use the above information you can discourage him from stealing the car. By installing anti theft protection devices you can avoid a crook from stealing the car that is in the most stolen vehicles list.

According to a survey the most popular cars that are stolen are Honda Civic (1995), Honda Accord (1991), Toyota Camry (1989), Ford F-150 (1997), Chevrolet C/K 1500 (1994), Acura Integra (1994), Dodge Ram Pickup (2004), Nissen Sentra (1994), Toyota Pickup (1988) and Toyota Corolla (2007). The four layers can defend car theft. The four layers include common sense, warning device, immobilizing device and tracking device. The first layer common sense means locking the car and taking the keys with you. The second device is a warning device or alarm on the vehicle. The third layer is using the fuel cutoff or smart key that prevents the vehicle from being driven. The
fourth layer is installing a tracking device so that police officials can track and recover the stolen vehicle.
