International Car Of The Year Winners For This Year Announced

The winners for this year’s International Car of the Year Awards (or the ICOTY) were already announced by the Road and Travel Magazine. This set of awards is given out annually and this year, it is the 11th time that the magazine would be giving out such accolades. The awarding ceremonies were given out at a black tie ceremony that was just held a day ago. It was at the Detroit Marriot Hotel that the winners were rightfully recognized by the auto magazine.

So which vehicles were given out the best awards? Well, Courtney Caldwell, the chief editor of the magazine shares, “The ICOTY awards focus on the emotional connection between car and consumer; how vehicles reflect our lifestyles and self image, an attitude the average consumer can identify with.”

You see, it took quite a dozen of the best auto journalists in the industry to select the best vehicles to be given the awards and accolades. These journalists had to give the chosen vehicles real close scrutiny and also great testing so as to find out if they were indeed right to be given such awards. Of course, there had been a set of criteria given out so as to better give the judges and jury a grasp of the true essence of the vehicles. And perhaps if the vehicle had really great additional accessories like K&N Filters, the number of points given to the vehicle would certainly even have gone up.

The International Car of the Year was given to the Lexus LS 460 while the International Truck of the Year award was decided to be given to the Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab. The Lexus LS 460 is powered by a V8 engine and is a luxury car that comes with a rear wheel drive. The Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, meanwhile, is most known as the twin of the GMC Sierra and it is part of the range of pickup trucks from General Motors. This vehicle was also given the Pick Up Truck of the Year Award and was also named as the most athletic.

Other vehicles which took home awards include the Jaguar XK which was the vehicle with the most sex appeal and was lauded as the Sports Car of the Year. The Toyota Camry is the most dependable vehicle and was awarded as the Sedan of the Year. The Luxury Car of the Year is the Lexus LS 460 and is also the most respected.
