Mazda Motor Corporation announced at a recently held press conference the unfolding of a brand new concept car at the Greater Los Angeles International Auto Show. Said concept car is dubbed as Nagare (pronounced na-gah-reh). It will be set forth by the automaker to follow the footsteps of successful Mazda exploratory concepts like the Sassou, Senku, and Kabura. Nonetheless, Nagare is deemed as the first hint of Mazda's future design as such, the concept car was dubbed 'The Flow'.

According to Laurens van den Acker, newly appointed global design director of Mazda, said that the concept car sums up Mazda's future car design in one word - Flow. He added, “Nagare is a celebration of proportions and surface language that will evolve into subsequent designs planned for presentation at future international auto shows. Nagare examines light and shadow, and begins to reveal the global design cues for the next generation of Mazda vehicles.”

Additionally, Franz Von Holzhausen, Director of Design for Mazda North American Operations, described Nagare as an evolving expression of Zoom-Zoom. He noted, "“Inspired by the movement of nature's elements, our designers have captured motion, energy and lightness, translating into a beautiful language of lines and forms that are powerful yet effortless, provocative yet strikingly seductive.”

Mazda affirms that the evolutionary flow of design will benefit future models. Said flow intends to convey to enthusiasts and future enthusiasts that there is more to Mazda. As of now, the flow of Mazda's design evolution can be experienced through Nagare, which is an indication of the automaker's confident step towards innovative and revolutionary designs.

Nagare was accompanied by the recently released CX-7 crossover SUV, CX-9 three-row, 7-passenger SUV, and the MX-5 Miata with its striking Power Retractable Hard Top. CX-7 is the production version of MX-Crossport concept car. CX-9 was launched at the recently held New York International Auto Show. it will go on sale early next year. MX-5, on one hand, uses lightweight yet powerful Mazda Miata body parts to boost refinement, performance, and style.

Mazda is aiming towards striking car evolution that would draw crowds closer and make other automakers always on the look out. Further, more of Mazda concept cars and evolutionary changes are expected in the coming model years.
