New Indian Car Reviews

Submitted by Carazoo.com
Wed, 7 Apr 2010

This article gives a brief review of four cars that came onto the Indian roads very lately. Read through for a hint about the cars and their performance.

Ford Figo:

Based on the Ford Global B platform, the Figo is capable of assassinating all other cars in the hatchback segment. It is considered as the cool car though. It is as good as or better than other cars in the small car segment. With its sleek and chic appearance, the Figo can attract anybody. The four-metre long car ensures an imposing look. The Figo offers matchless ride quality. The car does not mind the speed breakers on the Indian road and doesn't let you moan in pain while jumping over the humps. The technology of the Figo is similar to that in Ford Fiesta. The car comes in a total of 8 petrol and diesel variants. The fuel economy is quite good. The 1.2L Dura Tec petrol engine gives 10.9 and 15.4 kmpl on city and highway respectively. The 1.4L Dura Torq diesel engine delivers 14.1/18.5 on city and highway. The engine is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Volkswagen Polo:

The Polo was the European Car of the Year in 2009. It has been designed specifically for the Indians keeping the Indian roads in mind. The car is available in both diesel and petrol variants and is present in a range of 6 colours. The petrol variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in 14.2 seconds and the diesel variant can do the same in 14.4 seconds. The flashy car has a 5-speed manual gearbox allowing crisp and accurate shifts. The exteriors come with a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty and the interiors contain advanced technologies for smooth and safe driving. The car gives an impressive mileage of 13.7 and 22.2 km/l on city and highway roads respectively.

Volvo S80:

Volvo's flagship model comes in three variants; two petrol and one diesel variant. Luxury and advanced technology is what you'll find in the car. The interiors take space to a whole new level. The plush facilities in the car offer the driver and passengers a stress-free drive. The all-wheel-drive system, top-notch safety features and comfortable interiors distinguish the S80 from its competitors. The amount of power consumed can be regulated by the speed-dependant power steering system. The only drawback would be the fuel economy which is low. It is 9.8 and 17.8 km/l for 2.5L I-5 Turbo Diesel, 5.24 and 8.51 km/l for the 3.2L I-6 Petrol, 5.5 and 9.5 km/l for the 4.4L V8 Petrol on city and highway roads respectively.

Nissan 370Z:

The Nissan 370Z has a traditional big engine. It is the biggest engine compared to any other Z-Series car. The car has all features that a Z car can sport. The long nose, macho fenders and canopy cockpit deliver an organic design with a sense of accuracy and alertness. The two-seater sports coupe is a high performer with the latest technology and smart flowing design. It is available in India in two variants; Touring Coupe MT and Touring Coupe AT. Both variants get power from a VQ37VHR 3.7 L double overhead camshaft V6 engine with variable valve event and lift control. The S80 comes in eight attractive colours and two leather colour options for the interiors. For this car, the only drawback would be the high price.
