It is not all about the horsepower and torque you put into the engine to make an enhanced Mercedes performance. You need the ability to control that kind of horsepower, very much like taming a wild horse to be trained for horse racing. It needs some kind of regulation so that unleashing that “beast from within’ is rightly spewed out in the right place at the right time.

There’s nothing like a unique, Mercedes riding experience as threading to treacherous roads and hugging the corners is easy as boiling an egg. From the shock absorbers to the linkages, the suspension system brings forth better handling and braking. This gives life to the overall performance of the Mercedes Benz vehicle.

An integral part of the suspension system is the Mercedes coil springs. To define it briefly, it is a helical spring that is devised to store energy and subsequently release it. That is, to absorb shock or maintain a force between the contracting forces. Helical in form and made of elastic materials, the Mercedes coil spring returns to its original form and length when unloaded.

These coil springs are of the special type of torsion spring, wherein the material of the spring acts in torsion when the spring is compressed. Tension coil springs resist stretching; they usually have a hook or eye form at each end for attachment. They are the ones normally used in vehicles. While metal coil springs are designed by winding a wire around a shaped former, which is a cylinder used to form cylindrical coil springs.

It is a usual scenario that these Mercedes coil springs work overtime to achieve the most comfortable riding pleasure a passenger can experience in a Benz. These coil springs are wound in an annealed condition then tempered to achieve maximum strength. And with time and consistent usage, this tempering will make the spring sagging as it could no longer handle the loads. They could be returned to its original length via annealing and re-tempering. But it is doubtful if it could still achieve the same performance it can give it out.

Better yet, seek a replacement coil spring through the nearest parts dealerships or auto stores. Or log on to cyberspace to check out a variety of coil springs that custom-fit the different models and years of the Mercedes Benz. It is fast and convenient to avail, too, as it caters with a host of makes, sizes, and other specifications.
