Car engine is the most important part of a car. It requires extra care and maintenance because it plays an integral role in overall functioning of the car.
There are many faults in the car engine that if not resolved at the right time can cause damage to the engine and hamper the engine performance. Sometimes the problems in the engine may be caused by factory defects and sometimes it may be because of corrosion. There are various factors that contribute to a long list of engine problems. Here are the top 15 car engine maintenance tips: 1.Regular oil change is very essential for proper functioning of the car. It should be changed at regular intervals or after every 3,000 to 6,000 miles. 2.You should also check the level of oil in the tank. If the level is low, refill the tank. 3.Inspect the condition of the air filter. If you find a crack in the filter immediately replace it. 4.Whenever you replace any engine component, make sure that you do the replacement with original components. Fake components may be destructive for the engine as well as the car. 5.Never use unclean and dirty fuel in the car engine. Every car engine is in compliance with a specific type of fuel. So check owner's manual before filling the oil tank. 6.Inspect car battery. It also plays a vital role in the functioning of the car engine. 7.Inspect the car battery case for dirt and cracks. Replace the case immediately if in case you find any cracks on the surface. 8.Check all the car fluids that comprises brake fluid, engine coolant, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid. All the fluids should be filled to the marked level. If any of these fluids are not at specified level, it directly hampers the functioning of the car engine. 9.Check the spark plugs and if they are damaged replace them immediately. 10.If you hear any strange noises from the car engine or feel vibrations then get your car checked immediately at an authorized service station. 11.Inspect the plug wires and if you find any cracks, replace them. Cracks in the plug wires can cause spark while the engine is running. 12.Check the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve with an eternal vacuum pump. This valve helps to reduce temperature of the engine cylinder, which in turn reduces nitrogen emissions from the car engine. 13.Inspect the hoses for chafed areas and softness. Replace them if required. If replacing the radiator hoses, first drain the cooling system and then work further. 14.Inspect the condition of the timing belts that regulate the functioning of the car engine. Replace them if there are cracks and dirt deposited on the surface of the belt. 15.Car engine works effectively and efficiently only if all the engine components are in place and function properly. Therefore, it is very important to check the position and working of each and every engine component.
