In the recent times many car manufacturers have rolled out small cars from their manufacturing facilities. This clearly reflects the increasing demand of small cars in the country and the market is further expected to flourish. The key factors that have contributed to the growth of small cars in India are increasing fuel prices, rowing awareness of green cars, and increasing traffic congestion.

Small cars are now looking upon as practical, economical, fuel-efficient, and friendly cars. Most of the car manufacturers are working on their small cars concepts that are expected to roll out in near future.

Explained below are the top 5 small cars that are ready to hit Indian shores in 2009:

Maruti Suzuki Ritz

Maruti Suzuki is all set to roll out its premium compact car Ritz in the Indian car market. Maruti Suzuki Ritz is expected to roll out on Indian roads by May 2009 with an estimated price tag of Rs 5 Lakh. The car will come with an assortment features to deliver high levels of comfort and refinement. The car will be rolled out with the new generation KB series engine and will also have a choice of a 1.3-litre multi-jet diesel engine.

Fiat Grande Punto

Fiat Grande Punto is expected to enter India in May 2009 with an estimated price range of Rs 4.5 Lakh to Rs 6 Lakh. The car will be designed by the famous Italian designer Giugiaro. Punto will be rolled out with a choice of engines comprising 1.2-litre petrol, 1.4-litre petrol, and 1.3-litre multi-jet diesel engine.

Nissan Pixo

Nissan Pixo is designed on the same platform as the Maruti Suzuki A-Star. The car will be rolled out with a powerful 1.0-litre KB series petrol engine under the hood. It will also have an optional automatic transmission. Nissan Pixo will be rolled out on Indian roads by October 2009 with a price tag of Rs 5 Lakh.

Fiat Bravo

Fiat Bravo is an upcoming car that is expected to roll out with the price tag of Rs 8 Lakh. The car will be designed with a stylish and exemplary structure and will behold a powerful 1.9-litre multi-jet turbo diesel engine that produces 150 bhp. It will also have a choice of 1.4-litre petrol engine and a turbocharged T-JET engine.

Honda Jazz

Honda Jazz is one of the most awaited upcoming cars that expected to roll out in June 2009 in the price range of Rs 6.5 Lakh to Rs 8 Lakh. The car will come with the best of design cues and packed with functional technologies. It will behold a peppy 1.2-litre engine under the hood that will generate 77 bhp.
