Top 7 Tips to Improve Engine Efficiency

Engine is the heart of any automotive, whether it is a car, bus, truck, or scooter. All the vehicles that run on roads are powered by a variety of engines depending on the power it requires to pull the specified automotive. Therefore, it is very important to take good care of the engine and get it serviced at regular intervals of time.

Irregular servicing of the engine can badly damage the performance of an automobile. Here are top 7 tips to improve engine efficiency:

1. Engine displacement: It is very important to increase car engine displacement to generate more power. This helps the engine to draw more power from the total volume of the air-fuel mixture. Displacement can be increased by adding more number of cylinders or by increasing the size of each cylinder in accordance to the size of the engine.
2. Engine compression ratio: Increase the compression ratio to produce more power. Higher compression often results in quick burning of the fuel mixture which can be resolved by using octane gasoline.
3. Use intercooler: Air entering the cylinder should always be cool to ensure better expansion during combustion. Intercoolers fitted in the engine cools the compressed air before it enters the cylinder.
4. Improve air intake: Reduce air resistance by placing two intake valves in each engine cylinder or by using air filters. This helps improve air flow and further leads to higher efficiency.
5. Improve exhaust system: If air resistance puts extra pressure on the exhaust system, the engine robs some energy. Therefore, it is god to add a second exhaust valve to each cylinder so that exit of gases becomes easier without any withdrawal of useful energy. You can also add big tail pipes, free flowing mufflers, and headers to the exhaust system to further improve efficiency.
6. Lightweight engine components: It is always good to use lightweight engine components. If the components are lighter these will consume less energy and improve engine performance.
7. Porting engine: Porting engine is another activity that greatly improves the performance of an engine. In this process intake and exhaust ports are reshaped or modified to increase air flow.
