Winners For Consumer Guide Chicago Show Awards Pronounced

Submitted by correy

The Chicago Auto Show may have just started but it does look like Consumer Guide Automotive, one of the most trusted sources of information on used cars, new cars, and the best performance parts in the industry, has already chosen the best vehicles which would be receiving their accolade. These two vehicles are the 2008 Pontiac G8 and the new 2008 Toyota Highlander.

The awards are part of the group’s second annual awards for the Most Significant New Introductions set of vehicles. This is done for the second time around during the Chicago Auto Show. On this, Kirk Bell, the group’s associate publisher, shares, “With so many factors to consider, car shopping can be an overwhelmingly confusing experience. By naming the most significant new car and truck introductions, we're helping car buyers everywhere identify vehicles worth consideration. Visitors attending the nation's premier consumer show here in Chicago can see the standout vehicles firsthand.”

So as to find which vehicles should rightfully take home the awards from Consumer Guide, their editors had to go through the vehicles set out on display at the Chicago Auto Show. And with tons of vehicles showing off the best of their stuff, the editors had to trim down the choices only to those cars and vehicles which are new or have been the recipient of a total redesigning.

However, that was not all there was to it. The editors also had to judge the vehicles on the set of criteria by Consumer Guide. One such criterion was that the vehicle should have an outstanding consumer value and another criterion was that the vehicle should also have features that are quite innovative. Consumer Guide’s editors had been given a point system which they had to follow and the vehicle which gets the most number of points gets to take home the award.

The 2008 Pontiac G8 is fairly a new vehicle to the industry. It is built to be a sedan with a rear wheel drive system and it took the spot that previously belonged to the Pontiac Grand Prix. The vehicle has been based on the GM Zeta platform which the Holden VE Commodore also uses.

As per the 2008 Toyota Highlander, this vehicle had been the recipient of a complete redesign. It is a crossover SUV and is currently considered to be the Toyota Motor Corporation’s top selling SUV unit.
