Facts and Figures on MotorbikingSubmitted by David Salt Mon, 14 Sep 2009
Motorbiking is an exhilarating experience. Motorbike lovers and frequent riders often report that their worries and woes disappear when they mount their motorbikes and go for a ride no matter how short the travel maybe. The growing number of bike enthusiasts could attest to this fact.
Some interesting motorbike facts in Great Britain: • Less than 3% of households in Great Britain have motorcycles as of 2006-2007 period. • In Great Britain, people taking the motorcycling test rose to 88,000 in the 2007-2008 period. This is the highest increase since 2000-2001. • The pass rate for motorcycling test dwindles, as the ages of men and women who took the test increase. This means the higher the age, the lower the chance of passing the test. • Around 1.26 million licensed motorbikes are running around Great Britain including those exempted from vehicle excise. • In 2007, the people in the South West have the most number of motorbikes while Scotland has the lowest number. • In the same year 2007, Great Britain has the least number of motorbikes compared to any other EU-member country except for Ireland. These facts are certainly good news to the motorcycle industry. But it seems the motorcycle industry is not the only one benefited in this growing trend. Another positive growth can also be seen on the bike insurance providers industry. Britons fortunately do not cut back on costs when it comes to covering their well-beloved bikes. Britons understand perfectly the need of getting a protection for their bikes and this has created a spur in demand for motorbike insurance. Even in times of recession, bike lovers do not seem to see the need to cancel their bike insurance. Only a measly 4% of the total numbers of bike insurance policies have expressed desire to cancel. The 96% majority are willing to continue with their motorbike insurance. It's also advisable that you have motorbike insurance. Consequently, insurance experts heaped praises to the Brits for having the common sense not to cancel essential insurance policies. In a survey conducted in Britain, other insurance policies such as stand-alone policies for mobile phones and appliances seem to have tougher luck holding on to their customers.
