New vs Secondhand Vans

Submitted by dianeforster

Buying a vehicle always raises the question of "Secondhand or New?" Secondhand vehicles will always be a temptation at these times, simply because of the lower initial purchase price when compared to buying a brand new vehicle but there are dangers lurking in buying a van that already has a history.
The process of buying a second hand van involves a lot of searching and checking of potential vehicles. Physically checking a van is extremely important, your livelihood may depend on this vehicle so it is essential that it is robust enough to cope and that it will not have any mechanical problems in the near future. Chassis, Suspension and steering must all be perfect, especially if you are going to load the van anywhere near its weight limit. To check the engine is running perfectly you should really get the car checked by the AA or an independent garage. As well as a physical check it is essential (especially during the current financial climate) to be sure that the van has no outstanding finance, has never been written off and has no hidden past. Certainly buying a second hand van is a long, frustrating process with more luck than skill required in getting a quality vehicle.
By Contrast buying a new van couldn't be simpler, simply research your options and then buy your van. With new vans everything will be perfect, and if it isn't then you are covered by a manufacturer's warranty. Buying a new van needn't break the bank either with the choices of finance packages available to you. Finance can work in several ways, from a basic hire purchase schemes to Contract hire agreements that come with maintenance packages, supporting your business and removing any unexpected costs from the equation.
While the initial outlay of the purchase of a secondhand van may be lower than that of a new van it is wise to figure in how much time is spent looking for the right vehicle. Your time is not free (especially as a sole trader) and time spent on finding a van might have been more profitably spent. One must also figure in the extra running costs of a van that has already had a hard life (as all vans do) and an unknown quality of the maintenance it has received.
A new van should never let you down, will be as comfortable to drive as the manufacturer intended and comes with a warranty to cover any faults you may find initially and with the right finance package you will be able to completely control the expenditure on the vehicle.
Buyvanscheaper is the best place to shop for your new van, we offer the best vans at great prices and have very tasty finance deals to make your purchase a sound investment.
