Have you experienced regularly driving through the southern US area? Well then, you would know that your vehicle would end up being well acquainted with bugs and other insects, and many of them, too. In minutes, your windshield may easily cloud over due to bugs splattering through it.

If you are looking forward to more regular driving in this part of the country, then you need to have a bug deflector or bug shield in place so that you need not run wipers and use your windshield washer fluid all the time. It is very inconveniencing to have bug splatters all over your windshield. What more, it could be quite a serious and dangerous distraction for you while driving.

A bug shield or most commonly, bug deflector can be easily installed in your vehicle. If you have a well-placed shield, it can be a great help in deflecting bugs, along with small rocks or stones. It can save your vehicle’s hood against splatter and damaging chips. Having a bug deflector makes it easy to complete your journey with minimized amount of distraction, which you can really do without.

How should you install a bug shield on your vehicle? It is quite simple actually and can be accomplished in a matter of a few minutes, especially if you have someone to assist you in lining up the gadget correctly.

1. Before starting, make sure that your vehicle has been thoroughly washed and dried. Take extra care in cleaning up the area where the deflector will be installed. Most bug shields packaging come with alcohol pad which main purpose is for wiping away the residual debris that still remain from bug splatters. Make sure that you dry the particular area where you will be attaching the deflector using a soft cloth.

2. Once your vehicle had been cleaned up well, you are ready to install your bug shield. Most of the bug shields for sale have 3M tapes that are heavy duty and double sided. You need not have to drill.

3. Next, remove the tape’s backing then line up the bug deflector with your vehicle’s hood. Having another person around to help you is best since you will have the ability to make sure that the shield has been properly centered. Use a marking pencil so that you will place it exactly. Once the installation is complete, you can always wash away these marks you have made.

4. Once the bug deflector has been properly placed onto your vehicle, attach two clear small rubber bumpers to be placed on the hood, behind the shield. Place them on a spot where the shield and the hood would come into contact during high speed drives.

Now you have your bug shield installed!
