Which ATV Should You Be Riding?Submitted by wtsheff Tue, 28 Jul 2009
The all terrain vehicle can be defined by the fact that has a seat behind the operator of a handle bar driven vehicle, with four wheels. Although in the United States it is not street legal, in most of the world it is. Today there are a wide range of all terrain vehicles that include models with six wheels for heavy duty hauling and towing. They have a wide range from the heavy duty work horse to the sport racing model.
The Polaris 400 is a machine that has a lot to offer and a lot it could offer. For starters it does not have much power, the 455cc single cylinder engine is hardly enough to get 2 people up a steep hill much less tow your tractor across the field. Polaris has a long history with starter problems as well and until Polaris gets the redesign rite, it will happen from the day you buy it until the day you sell it. The Honda Rancher is great all terrain vehicle if you are looking for a 4x4. It is not the fastest ATV in the world and can be out performed in a race by ATV's twenty years older. But it can tow that tractor across the field or get you where you need to go. Most of the problems are from the factory and should be brought to the attention of Honda as fast as possible so that you are covered by the one year warranty. It retails for around six thousand dollars making it competitive in its class but still a hefty investment. Polaris offers a six wheel all terrain vehicle called the Sportsman Big Boss 6x6. It comes with a huge engine the 800cc fuel injected, liquid cooled, four stroke twin engine. This Big Boss will take you and your load anywhere with its 1500 ton towing capacity. You do not have to worry about breaking either it has a six wheeled on demand transmission which also means you won't have to ride the break while going down any hill. Remember before you buy an all terrain vehicle that you should be properly trained how to drive one. The safety record for an all terrain vehicle should be of concern to any mother thinking of letting her child get on and drive. Any time a child under the age of sixteen is on one should wear a helmet. Over fifty thousand injuries to children have been reported from all terrain vehicle accidents. Also make sure to always where a helmet.
