Which Sub-Compact Is Right For Your Family?Submitted by wtsheff Tue, 28 Jul 2009
With Korea and Japan suffering from the economic down turn, now is the time to get into your local dealership and cash in on a good deal. If you are in the market for a Sub Compact then the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and KIA Spectra are three good options.
The Toyota Corolla has been in the United States for forty years and has sold more than thirty million cars worldwide. Today the car is just what it was when it first arrived a cheap, no frills, and great on gas mileage car. Today you can pick up a basic Base 5-Spd MT Toyota Corolla for under or close to fifteen thousand dollars. If you go for the high end XRS 5-Spd AT Corolla you\'re looking at an eighteen thousand dollar bill, still reasonable in today\'s market. The new Toyota Corolla gets 35 mpg highway and 27 city making a car for anybody needing to save a dollar or two. The Honda Civic has been in the United States for only 5 less years then the Toyota Corolla. In that time the Civic has become far more refined and upscale these days. Although it is popular amongst every tuner in the U.S. or Japan it has a very good safety record, gets great gas mileage (34 highway and 27 city) and has a great base retail price of just under fifteen thousand dollars. Today\'s Honda Civic can also be purchased as a Hybrid for not much more then the basic Civic. Priced to sell at twenty thousand dollars and getting a whopping 45 mpg it is definitely worth checking into. The KIA Spectra has only been in the United States since 2000 and is South Koreas answer to Japans dominating hold on the sub compact market. The Spectra has had a rough road and not really been able to hold up on any road. In 2004 KIA made mid-year changes hoping to turn things around. However the sales numbers and ratings have not been good. The car has clunky ride, cheap interior, poor maintenance record and a safety record fit for your worst enemy to drive. There are one or two bright spots, the Spectra does get 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway alongside with a cheap price tag of thirteen thousand dollars. No matter which car you decide to buy check your local dealerships and keep an eye online for the best deals.
