Which Top Minivan Meets The Demands of Work and Family?Submitted by wtsheff Tue, 30 Jun 2009
With economies all over the world sliding closer and closer to the edge of collapse. Every automaker all over the world is feeling the pressure to make a dollar. If you are in the market for a Mini Van these are three great vehicles being offered at great prices, the Dodge Caravan, Honda Odyssey, and Volkswagen EuroVan.
The Dodge Caravan has two models to choose from for the 2009 model year, the SE and the SXT. The Se base price is twenty two thousand dollars and comes with a 3.3L 175hp V6 engine that gets 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. The SXT base price is twenty six thousand dollars and comes with a 3.8L 197hp V6 engine that gets 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The Honda Odyssey has only been around since 1995 but since then it has made a name for itself amongst soccer moms. It gets top marks for safety, reliability, and performance. Safety being the most talked about on the soccer side lines. The 2009 received a perfect score five out of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in every area except for one the rollover in which it received a fore out of five stars. The Honda Odyssey base price is twenty four thousand dollars for the LX and tops out at thirty nine thousand dollars for the Touring package. The Volkswagen EuroVan was first introduced in 1993 but only produced for one year and then reintroduced in 1999 then discontinued again in 2003. The Volkswagen EuroVan came in two models the GLS and the MV. It was criticized for years for not having enough power for those German alps. The newer model EuroVan GLS and MS came with 2.8L 201 hp V6 giving plenty of power to get up around any mountain. Both models get 17 mpg city and 20 mpg highway making it competitive even with today's newer model mini vans. The Volkswagen EuroVan has one other notable quality it's reliability, built using the engine from the Jetta and GTI also makes parts easy to buy. No matter which minivan you decide to buy it is best to have it checked out by a mechanic before signing on the dotted line. A lot of these vehicles can look great from the outside and even feel great when taken for a test drive. But are just months, weeks, or even days away from a major repair bill.
