Every state keeps a list of all the adoptions that have taken place in that particular state.  The names of both the actual parents as well as the adopted parents are given in these records.  However, the information is not complete in these records, as it does not contain the important information such as the phone numbers and addresses.  Even the ages and medical history of the birth parents’ is not very clear.

The way you can find these records depends on the reason for the adoption.  If the reason for adoption is divorce, then these records will show who the birth parents are.  If one or both of the birth parents have died, you will still be able to find any sisters or brothers you might have.

You must understand that the information in the adoption records is from a long time back and not new. That is the reason you may not get the complete information. But you can try to find out the race, which can shed some light on where your birth parents are.

With the internet coming of age, things have changed and it has become easier to search for the birth parents, for people who are looking for them.  But there are also situations people encounter, where the birth parents do not wish to have any connection with the children they have given for adoption.

The adoption laws of each state differ from each other.  However, you can find the adoption details on the net, such as the mutual consent registries.  This is where the parents give consent for the records to go public. You will need to give the correct details to access the related documents, such as the date of adoption, the name of the person adopted as well as the court where the adoption took place.

Checking out all these sources may get you to your birth parents.
