3 Commandments to Print Brochures

Brochure printing is a good way to drum up support for a particular product or service. Most companies resort to print brochures to introduce new products or services. More often than not, a print brochure achieves for the company what it desires to accomplish - that is, to persuade prospective clients to try the product or service.

With this, how can you make sure that you have an effective brochure printing? As you may well know, a simple brochure will not do the trick; it has to be well thought of and the design should appeal to prospective clients. Then and only then can you have successful print brochures. Here are five important secrets to be successful when printing a brochure.

1. Know thy Customer.
Your customers are paramount. They are the life and blood of any organization. Without them, you are nothing. Always remember this. Before you embark on any brochure printing, it is absolutely important to understand you customers. Understand their peculiarities, know their patterns, research on their buying trends - these are some of the things that you should know to have successful print brochures. These will ultimately answer basic questions like, ‘Why would they buy your product or services?' or ‘How can you convince them to try your product or services?' Needless to say, if you cannot answer these questions then you cannot develop any marketing collateral that would directly influence their decision making.

The best way to know your customers is to talk them. Feedback sheets help, but often, customers just go through the motion of filling them up. This is to suggest that you might not get what you need from them; that is, to get to know them deeper. By talking to them on a personal level, customers start opening up. If you are a good conversationalist, they would talk to you about their dreams and aspirations, which is good because they become more comfortable with you. This way, you not only get to know them, you also build rapport, which is an essential marketing tool.

2. Organize Thy Thoughts
Now that you have something to start with - an understanding of customer needs - you can now start developing your mind map. You can do this by putting key words from your discussions with customers on a blank sheet. To emphasize the more important points, make them larger and bolder. Customer Satisfaction, After Sales Service, Politeness, Reputation, Timeliness - these are some of the things as well as words your customers might put emphasis on. Put these words in one piece of paper and just scribble anything that come out of your talks with your customers.

These keywords will play an important role as you begin printing brochure. They will not actually be part of the design, but you would need this mind map to guide you. Consider using the words in your mind map when you start developing the message or the content of your brochure prints.

3. Put thy words into writing
Now that you have a mind map, start developing the message. Remember that your customers and target clients aren't really interested in your company or products. They are interested in themselves and/or their own businesses. To get their attention, your brochure project should focus on the benefits they will enjoy when they purchase. Recognize that your message should be about them and not about you. Your message should be clear, concise and direct to the point.

Finally, work on what is important to your customers and not on selling your products or services. As in the famous whispering words in the movie ‘Field of Dreams', ‘If you build it, they will come.'
