6 Tips For The Fast Paced DesignerSubmitted by andrewmichaels Thu, 3 Dec 2009
It is very common these days to work in a fast paced environment. Even the design and print industries are trying to adapt to a more dynamic market that demands creativity and quality within a moment's notice. If you are one of these fast paced artists for design and print, then you know how gruelling or taxing that fast paced environment is on the creative mind. Rushing creative ideas and printing them once is a hard task unto itself, but doing it everyday can seem next to impossible.
Do not worry though, since there are ways for a fast paced designer to survive and even thrive in this kind of environment. I have here a few tips that should be very useful for you in creating and printing designs fast. 1. Keep a sketchbook - Even if you are not on a project, you should try thinking up and sketching up cool design ideas. That is why it pays to have a nice mini sketchbook around when inspiration strikes you. If you see an odd advertisement, a good view in a park, or that odd event that seems beautiful, try and sketch it up and write a few descriptive words for it. Once a project arrives, you can then turn to your sketchbook to see if there are a few ideas there that you can use. It is a nice way to quickly get ideas for a design, without the long process of brainstorming. 2. Have templates ready - Now, if you are continually asked to create designs for particular mediums online or even in print such as brochures, catalogs and flyers, you might want to consider having templates ready. You can try creating your own custom templates, or you can download from online printing services and other special self help blogs for free. Templates should cut the time of creating new designs, since templates area a nice medium to build upon. You'll be dishing out designs and printouts faster with templates. 3. Collect resources - It also pays to have a nice archive of free fonts, royalty free images and other types of design elements. Keep collecting all of them so that you can have a nice design archive which you can pick from easily to get that certain effect that you want to recreate. Of course, this will also save you time since you do not have to search for any other extra element. 4. Buy the best equipment - Another important tip is to buy the best equipment that you can buy. A fast computer, a high quality printer, perfectly accurate computer "mice" and even digital tablets are all great at helping someone design something. This makes the process faster giving you as a designer an advantage over the rest. 5. Buy the best software - Of course, a design is determined by the computer software that it is done with. So to make sure that your imagination is the only limitation in your layouts, you must always get the best design software on the market. Adobe Design software and Corel are just a few of the software applications you should look out for. Do this so that you won't have any trouble creating the design effect that you want. 6. Online printing - Finally, fast paced designs also warrant fast paced printing. The best place to do this is online through an online printing service. They usually take care of all your printing needs for a fee. This fee however is well worth it since you only have to wait until your prints arrive. You don't even need to waste time going out and shopping for a printer. So there you have it. The best tips for a fast paced designer. Hope you found this article useful.
