Achieving the Greatest Impact through Business Cards

Among the omnipresent marketing materials today are business cards. Almost all businesses are using this material today to get word about their business out there. In some countries, these cards are handed out without formality to exchange contact information in a handy piece of paper. Over the years, the function of these simple cards have evolved and how now become the most indispensible marketing material.

If seeking to improve your market exposure today, then you might want to consider the marketing wonders of business cards. They may be simple, small, and affordable, but these cards can give you a good first impression. Done well, it can function more than a salesman or a website. It can help you reach your target audience that is hard to reach or doesn't use the Internet often.

In its simplest form, the key function of a business card is to tell people you name, address, and your products or services. But aside from the content of your business card, the size, shape and design of it is an important factor that you can find advantageous in getting the market share you need.

Size and shape

The standard size of business cards is 3.5 by 2 inches. This is also the size that business card holders and wallets are created, so it is important that you use the standard size as much as possible. No matter how captivating and compelling your card is if it doesn't fit the card holder, you are only defeating its purpose.

One good way to create an appealing business card while sticking to the standard size is by giving your card a rounded edge. Aside from giving your card a unique look and feel, a rounded edged card will feel different in your customer's hand. For instance, a wavy edge will look great in your hair salon business. But be sure to ensure the round or wavy edge of your card fit with your business image. If you run a legal business, a rounded edge won't look great for you. Stick with the straight edge to assure your prospects that you are a reliable business enterprise.

Design

Commonly, business cards are printed on white or ivory paper stock and black ink. This is the simplest and mostly used design that businesses use when wanting to convey a professional business image. But you can actually print your card in any material you want. For example, if your business deals with woods, you can always consider using a wood business card. Or a lightweight steel for a business that sells steel.

In most cases, business owners prefer to include a picture in their business card printing to give a visually appealing look. You can always consider adding a picture or a logo in your card to help people remember your brand.

When it comes to finishes, there are three types you can use: smooth, linen or laid. The most commonly used finish is smooth. Linen and laid is only used when what you want to convey is sophistication and wealth. Whichever you use, be sure that it is right for your budget and the image you want to project. This way you create the business card that will effectively create the crisp and clear impression you want your prospects to have of your business.
