When it comes to letterhead head printing, color is your ally in making it successful. You do not just design and print letterheads without minding the color, since it gives a significant influence on how the color letterheads are perceived. If you need guidance on the proper color schemes for letterhead printing, I have for you here, four simple tips that should guide you in your choice of color.

• Keep the number of colors to a minimum - The first important tip I will give you is to keep the number of colors in your letterhead to a minimum. Usually colorful and bright letterheads are not really effective since they make letterhead look unprofessional. People might not take the paper and its color letterhead seriously if it was done with too much colors. So it is good to only use 1 or 2 major color inks in the letterhead for its content.

• Use cool and neutral colors - In terms of the specific color, I recommend using cool and neutral colors. While you can of course seriously try Black and Gray (the neutral colors) as your major choice, cool colors such as Blue, Green and Violet should also be great. Darker shades of brighter colors can also be used if you want such as the deep reds and oranges, but use them only with caution. These colors will contrast nicely with the white paper of your letterhead designs making things quite clear and neat.

• Try to use color gradients - Besides using block colors though, you might also want to use color gradients in your custom letterheads. Gradients are basically a color effect where one color can meld and change continuously to another color at the other side of a design element. This creates a spectrum like effect, making the letterhead design elements look sharper, complete and more distinct. Design software like Photoshop and QuarkXpress can easily do this if you need help.

• Lighten or Darken areas of interest - Depending on the overall color scheme of your letterheads you can also try to draw people's attention to a specific area of your letterhead either by severely darkening or lightening areas of Interest. For example, if you want to emphasize your company name in your letterhead, then darkening or lightening its text will make it quite noticeable. This gives a nice subtle impact on readers that makes the letterhead quite effective.

So that is how you use and manage colors for color letterheads. Make sure you integrate this kind of thinking in your letterhead printing. Good Luck!
