With the cost of advertising on the rise, many companies are looking for more innovative ways to get their message to consumers. Even the cost of brochure printing for many companies has become prohibitive and doesn't reach the target audience that it once did. As many small businesses are learning, there are effective marketing techniques that do not have to cost a great deal of money—the key is being able to get your message out to as many people as possible with as little cash outlay as possible. Saving money on marketing costs does not mean you have to sacrifice an effective marketing plan.

More companies are developing the habit of business card printing and giving more employees access to this marketing tool. It's much more effective than newspaper or trade publication advertising because it adds an aura of a personal touch to the communication. It's a tool that can be used whenever company representatives meet potential clients and may not have any other available tool in their possession. For example, if you are traveling on vacation, you may inadvertently run into people who are interested in what you have to sell, and your business cards are all you have to provide at that time.

Many companies are starting to printing greeting cards to send to customers or potential customers at various times throughout the year. By utilizing greeting card packages and the company printer, you can substantially cut your costs of advertising and provide a personal touch for your customers. You can even begin brochure printing on your own instead of paying a printer which will allow you to personalize the material you send out. Of course, these methods have been outdone and may not reach your audience in the way you would like, but they are inexpensive ways to market your products and services.

The key is being able to reach out to your audience and do something different that will grab their attention. They have seen all of the marketing schemes that have been used for years, so if you want to make them stop and look, you have to find a marketing plan that hasn't been tried. Remember the Wawa campaign with the talking sandwiches? When it first came out, it was humorous, but as they began to use the same program, it began to lose its appeal, so they had to try a new angle. Choosing a campaign based around a free prize or special promotional gift will help you reach more people than just using business card printing and brochures to distribute. By finding inexpensive ways to get potential customers to stand up and listen to you, your marketing efforts will be great enhanced in both productivity and sales.
