Make Travel Brochures for Kids

If you are into the travel business, you know that you clients are not just individuals or couples but a huge chunk of them are families with young kids. As an act of goodwill, why not make travel brochures for your young patrons. They will surely appreciate the effort that something was created for them and who knows when they grow up; they will continue to patronize your business as paying adults. Don't worry about the expense that will go into brochure printing because you can actually do it yourself.

These reading materials could be given to the kids to take home or they can read them at the waiting lounge while parents are still making their travel arrangements. Here are some guidelines in creating these things for kids. The brochures would be different from your regular pamphlets because the readers are going to be kids.

1. Travel pamphlets are a good way for kids to learn about different places of the world. You could probably make one about some countries within a continent, something about a particular country, or you could focus on a theme, like ancient buildings, museums, festivals, and the like.

2. You can easily use Microsoft Word for this purpose. When you open a Word document, you can set up your page to "brochure", with the size of a landscape short bond paper. The most ideal layout would be three columns, so that the final output will come out as a three-fold piece. So select "3 columns."

3. You will find pre-assigned text boxes in the template and you can just easily key in your text. If you are wondering what to put in there, you can write bulleted facts about your topic as well as games like crossword puzzles or word finds that kids would enjoy doing while waiting. Don't make your words and games complicated because you know that your readers are kids.

4. If you search online, you will find many royalty travel photos that you can use. Insert these in photo boxes that come with the template. You can reduce them or enlarge them as you see fit. Choose the photos that are brightly colored. And since the readers are kids, choose the tourist attractions that will interest them most like theme parks, zoos, windmills, toy stores, or theme restaurants and highlight them. You may also use the photos as a game, like "Spot the Difference."

5. If you have put all the elements in place, save your file so that you can start printing. You actually print it yourself at the office if you have a quality inkjet or colored laser printer. You can probably start printing 20 copies of one kind of brochure and just add some more if your stocks are depleted. That is the beauty of printing your own; you do not have to spend so much money on stock copies. You can just print them as you need them.

6. But if you do not have a good printer or you think that you need lots of copies for kiddie tour groups, then you can bring your file for brochure printing at a professional printing house. You have already saved on the expense of layout out and design so at least, you only have to spend on printing. Choose a nice material for your brochures that is not too expensive because you know that this will just be played upon by kids.
