My Favorite Things To Do With Custom FoldersSubmitted by andrewmichaels Wed, 23 Dec 2009
Custom folders can come in many shapes, sizes and forms. They can also have lots of different design features, colors and structures. Do you know the best type of custom folder printing for your own custom folders? Do you want to have the best and most eye catching one for presentations or for office work? Well, as a businessperson that has seen done it all in terms of folder printing, I have a few favorite things to do with my custom folders to make them more effective. In this article, I will share with you a few of these techniques so that you yourself can try it out in your own folder designs.
• Changing the orientation - First off, I always have found changing the orientation of my custom folders to be quite effective. Instead of the normal vertical folders, I sometimes use horizontally oriented ones. While you may think this is crazy and unprofessional, the fact is that people will remember your custom folders more with this change in orientation. It is a very simple choice, and you get that immediate distinction that you did something fresh and new with your reports. I have even closed quite a few number of deals successfully, by using this type of folder since they will always remember the presentation with the horizontal type presentation folder. • Using different structures - Another thing that I find quite good to use is to integrate different folder structures for the content. I don't just pin things into the folder, I try to use pockets, sleeves, slits, straps and other structures to fit everything I need neatly and beautifully into the custom folder. In presentation folders and press or public relation kits this can be quite useful since people appreciate the organization of content within the custom folder. • One full color photograph - I have also found that I do not actually need to design an elaborate cover in my custom folders. It is possible to do away with creating exquisitely detailed and cluttered abstract layouts in favor of a simple full color photograph. In fact, in one such presentation, I just used a nice poignant photograph of a bird breaking free from its cage to prove a report point. It was simple effective and I didn't have to work hard in getting those little details right. Sometimes a good photograph is all it takes to have a nice custom folder. So see if you can do it as well. • Adding special design elements - If photographs are not your forte though, then you can still try one of my favorite techniques. That is, you can use one special design element that is integrated in the folder material. For example, you can emboss your company logo into the folder itself with full color. It is simple, formal and yet with that embossing you get a nice shadow effect that makes the custom folder quite special. Similarly, besides embossing, you might want to try other special printing techniques such as metallic gold or silver like inks to make the logo glint or shine. There are plenty of other effects like this that you can use. As long as you just use one, you'll have a great and very eye catching custom folder that can be used effectively for reports, project presentations and public relations. Great! I hope these ideas can inspire you to create a good and very effective custom folder of your own. Good Luck!
