Target Marketing: Are You Marketing to the Right Clients?

Submitted by andrewmichaels

We've been hearing about it from so many experts, and it seems that every marketer should know about it in order for one to be successful.

Target Market.

It's a very big word when it comes to marketing any business. From the experts, a target market is a portion of the general population to whom you direct your advertising efforts to. They are the people who you want to connect with because they are the ones most likely to take interest and finally purchase what it is you're offering. It is very important therefore to know them well and concentrate on what they want so you can provide them with what they're looking for.

Your target market is the one segment in the population that would take an interest in what you're going to say. These are the prospects and leads that not only would appeal to your offer but also the ones to have the capacity to pay for it. In short, these people are the ones you should look for.

In the conventional way of marketing, what you do is to go out and market to just about everyone. You would probably tell everyone about your business by posting billboards, distributing print flyers in the streets, and selling door-to-door. Your flyer printing might even be going on a tour of seminars and trade exhibits across the nation. This approach may work for some, but most of the time, you'll be spending more time, money and energy than what you're actually getting. The results don't equal that of your effort and resources. In fact, you might even be wasting your time and money on trying to sell to people who are not willing to pay for what you're offering for the simple reason that they're just not interested.

Target Marketing.

With target marketing, you do away with all of that. You don't waste time and energy trying to connect with everybody, and you also don't spend too much of your marketing budget on print flyers
for example and then get them thrown right away in the garbage. You simply keep away from people who don't have any interest in your products and services, and concentrate instead on leads that would definitely grab your offer.

Target marketing simply saves you time, money and energy. You save your resources from pitching your products and services to people who just don't care. Sure, they might pay attention but the bottom line is whether they're going to buy or not. Your target market instead would take interest in your offer and would be more willing to spend their hard earned money because they have a need for your products and services.

At the end of the day, this is what matters - the number of sales you make. Go for your target market. Know and understand them well. It is always a good strategy to get attention from leads that are willing to pay for what you're offering, than on people who will surely pay attention but never purchase anything from you.
