Only one week left before your scheduled move. This is the last week to rummage through your closet, pack everything from the cupboards and every single piece of memorabilia. Seven days are counting so the need for serious packing grows intense. Heed these tips to establish a successful move.

- Reduce the burdensome cost of moving by dividing the tasks between you and the moving company. It would be practical to shoulder the packing of non-fragile items such as books, clothes, garments and toys. Not only will you be saving money but time to sort all valuables and the things that can be thrown away. However, fragile items such as plates, dinnerware, chinaware, and heavy appliances should be the moving company’s responsibility.

- Even though the moving company is referred by a friend or relative, never give your 100% trust to it. Make the movers respect you by discussing your concerns in the event of untoward incidents during the moving process. Never let the movers touch your jewelry, family heirloom and other precious items. Pack these items yourself and store them in a safe vault or bag. Should there be lost and damaged articles, the company must be properly insured to cover or replace the items.

- Get the right moving boxes in Calgary and commercial moving supplies. You can also utilize used moving boxes in Calgary to save money but make sure they are sturdy enough to hold heavy items. Although you can obtain free boxes from the neighborhood or supermarket, carefully inspect the box if it is strong and padded.

- Allot one week to pack all your stuff. It is important to make a checklist of the items that will be placed in each box. Separate the fragile items carefully and wrap them with newspaper, bubble wrap and blankets. Make sure the items are compact to minimize the movement during the move.

- For the safety of your items, movers are required to inspect each box tendered for shipment. The mover will suggest the appropriate moving equipments and advise whether or not the boxes need to be replaced with something sturdier. They have the right to refuse any box that is improperly packed and shoulder the repacking with the condition of an additional fee. Keep in mind that the movers are not responsible for the damaged items which they did not pack.

- Movers do not transport pets and plants, unless you paid them an extra service cost. If you wish to ship your puppies and daisies, inform the company beforehand so they can prepare the necessary moving supplies in Calgary.

- Movers will not transport or allow you to pack hazardous materials. Items like paint, thinners, solvents, oils, varnishes, firearms and ammunition, bottled gas, propane, lamp oil, and anything flammable, explosive or corrosive, motor fuels and oils, nail polish remover, bleach, and aerosol cans are prohibited to be transported. Also note that spilled sesame oil leaves a terrible stench on nearby items.

- Make the loading process easier and more organized by designating a room in your home/apartment, preferably the one closest to the door, in which to place all of your boxes. Keep related boxes together since they'll end up in the same room. This will help cut the carrying time and make the move much more efficient.
