Tips for Holiday Displays

Submitted by SLStoreDisplays
Tue, 26 Oct 2010

The holidays can be a magical time for many people and for many retail stores. Not only do many stores make more profit during this time, but their displays and atmosphere can be more effective than any other time of year. It's important to be competitive by ramping up your displays during this time. You really need to concentrate on communicating your products' benefits to the customers so that they are more inclined to buy. Customers come in at this time of year looking to purchase something, but they can also be more selective, wanting to find that perfect gift. Use these tips to make sure your displays play to your shoppers' emotions so that you can increase your sales this holiday season.

1) Think about how people feel when they find and buy that perfect gift. They are excited, imagining the reaction of the recipient, relieved that they have one more thing off of their list, and they are even willing to spend extra money to get exactly what they want. Buying gifts for more than one person at a time is even more satisfying. Make sure that your promotions and displays offer that feeling to them. Use photos of people receiving that perfect gift. Point out how something would be the perfect gift for that special occasion. Make people imagine how great it would be to give that item and your sell is in the bag.

2) Having and promoting that perfect gift isn't possible without an effective display. People aren't likely to waste their shopping time digging through crammed racks and disorderly tables. Even if they did, it certainly wouldn't put them in the mood that they need to be in to purchase it for someone special. Create displays that focus on feelings and mood. Use special lighting, decorations, and signs to lure shoppers into taking their time and imagining what you want them to imagine.

3) All of your displays should have a focal point. Focal points show customers what types of products you offer at a quick glance. Getting that first impression right is crucial when customers are quickly scanning stores to shop in during the holidays. Make each display eye-catching. Use mannequins and mannequin forms so that people can quickly see what garments look like when worn. If possible, use your mannequin displays as props for communicating how happy, comfortable, or in love they are wearing that special garment.

4) Using slatwall panels to create slatwall displays around the walls of your store is a very good idea. People can see focal point displays all the way to the back of your store, simply by walking by. You can use slatwall accessories to bring many products into the display while creating focal points with signs and mannequin forms. Customers will see what you have to offer and also be drawn in because your store looks organized and easy to shop in.
