Becoming A Personal Coach Part III

Submitted by John Petersons
Thu, 11 Mar 2010

After a person has selected a niche/speciality of personal coaching they want to deal with and then got a certificate from their coach or from a professional coaching school, then they are ready to start their own practice as a personal coach. With all the business plans complete (which include account management, license or certificate and client management) one should get the thing (which might seem impossible) which starts their business. These include a four thing set - advertisements, impressive experience, references of happy clients and testimonials.

As aforementioned that doing this might seem difficult, but a personal coach can start off with offering a few free coaching sessions for an interval of a couple (or three) months. This one time offer should be advertised in classifieds (online as well as offline), fliers and also groups with shared interests like business societies or even churches. It is a known fact that free offerings catch individual attention better than any other advertisement. Before the last session with those free clients, the coach should ask them for a testimonial. Also, they can be asked if they are secure with being a reference and assure them that their personal details (i.e. phone number, email address and residence address) private. Their reference can be used for six months (it is best to tell them that) during which they would be replaced by newer clients.

After the business is set, it should be balanced by giving some time to coaching, some time managing the coaching and other time thinking of or doing things which improve the business.

For a Personal coach, nothing attracts more people than a testimonial of a happy client. It is like a positive review for life and should be treasured beyond anything else.
