Choosing a job

How does it feel like?

What would you feel like if you were Hungary and found nothing eat except a food that you hate. I am sure you are going to feel bad but what could make it a bit tolerable is that you know that its going to happen only today then tomorrow you will make sure you have something else to eat.

But what if you were forced to eat this thing everyday forever? How would your life be like? Will you be able to enjoy anything in life? I really doubt.

But what could make a person do something that he hates for years? Most probably people won't do this, right?

No, they all do it, by choosing a career that they don't like.

Hating your job

When someone chooses a job that he dislikes his life becomes miserable. He wakes up every morning feeling bad, he gets horrible feelings while being at work, he goes home feeling worse and he spends the rest of the day feeling down.

But what could force someone to do this to himself?
This is the same question everyone who hates his job asks himself, and in order to feel good, he tries to convince himself that he is doing the right thing.

This person relies on false beliefs like "I can't find another job", "no one is satisfied with his job, I shouldn't be too demanding" or "its too late to make a career change" to make him feel that he is doing the right thing.

By believing in such false beliefs the person frees his mind from having to make choices and just remain in his comfort zone. But the truth is that this comfort zone is anything but comfortable because even if you managed to convince yourself that you are helpless your subconscious mind will respond with feelings of depression and you might find yourself feeling bad all the time without knowing why.

People who ignore their problems and act as if they are not there usually end up feeling depressed while those who take actions usually feel relived even if their actions weren't strong enough.

You must understand that the beliefs you are relying upon are just lies that you are using to prove to yourself that you are a victim and that you can't do anything about it. You feel so bad when someone lies to you, why do you lie to yourself? I know it needs some courage and I know that you may face some kind of uncertainty but the reward is doing something that you like for the rest of your life.

What job Is right for me?

The job that is right for you is the job you can do while feeling happy or at least satisfied. Do you think that computer professional have a natural ability to solve computer related problems? No, they keep doing mistakes until they learn how to fix a problem and during the learning process they face crashes, blue screens, viruses…etc. they only continue learning because they love what they do, and that's why in the end they become professionals. The difference between a computer expert and a normal person is that the first kept trying and learning until he became an expert while the other gave up too quickly because he didn't like computers.

I am not saying that the only way to become good at your job is to love it, but I am saying that if you love your job you will surly be a professional. The other thing is, even if you managed to excel in a job that you hate, why spend your whole life feeling bad?

The right job for you is the one that makes you feel happy while doing it because it's the one you will be able to put all of your efforts in, and the result of this is excelling at the job. Whatever you are doing now, quit it, and do something that you like.
