Growing Number of Jobs in the Rapidly Developing Algeria

Submitted by naukrigulf

Algeria in North Africa is the second largest country on the African continent after Sudan with an estimated population of nearly 36 million as in 2010. Its economy is hugely dependent on fossil fuels energy sector as well as petroleum & natural gas reserves. But, with focus on diversification, there are plenty of jobs in Algeria open to the qualified professionals across the world.

Algeria is an active member of all the major foundations like the United Nations, the Arab league, the African Union, the Arab Maghreb Union and the OPEC. Its capital is Algiers which possibly is derived from the Arabic for the ‘islands of Mazghanna'. It maintains good foreign relations and welcomes people from outside with open arms. The economic conditions of the country have been improving from a decade now as a result of policy reforms by IMF (International Monetary Fund). Also, it decided to pay off its entire debt to the Paris Club, an informal group that provides financial services, reinforcing the fact that its economy has improved manifold. With this economic recovery, jobs in Algeria have also grown significantly.

The Algerian economy is hugely based on fossil fuels energy sector that accounts for 60% of budget revenues, 30% of GDP and over 95% of export earnings. It has huge oil reserves; ranks 14th in petroleum and 8th in natural gas reserves in the world. Around 25% of Algerians work in agricultural sector that is famous for fertility of its soil. The government is shifting concentration from fossil fuels, natural gas and petroleum based resources. It is now paying attention to the overall development of the economy by growth of sectors related to travel & tourism, banking & finance, sales & marketing, technology & IT, real estate & construction, hotel & hospitality and others. Consequently, career opportunities in the country have surged high attracting expatriates from all around. Hordes of well qualified and experienced professionals are applying for jobs in Algeria with the hope of getting better salaries and lifestyles, exactly what Middle East is famous for.

Algeria is seriously working towards living conditions of the country by improving infrastructure and upgrading both public and private enterprises. Moreover, its expanding industrial sector and growing literacy rate comes across as a big boost for the economy with lesser need for foreign expertise. But, there is still a long way to go and till then thousands of jobs in Algeria are available to expatriates with desired qualification, training and experience. The upcoming sectors like tourism, banking, IT, realty, hospitality, etc. need to be promoted and this need is creating several career opportunities in the sales and marketing segment. Positions at all levels-executive, assistant and managerial- are open to anyone who possesses the right skill set and other add-ons. With constant support and encouragement by the government, the face of Algerian job market is changing.

It is always recommended to professionals moving from their native countries to another that before taking the big leap, always explore the alien land. At least, get hang of the basics like climate, living conditions, culture and laws followed so as to avoid problems later. Also, it then becomes easier to adjust to the new place once you have good knowledge about it and have set right expectations.

Thus, for those taking up jobs in Algeria, it has hot days and cool nights while the area is hilly and even mountainous sometimes. Some of the main cities of Algeria are Algiers, the capital city; Oran, the second largest city; Constantine; Annaba, the fourth largest city and Tizi Ouzou.
