for cheap.
Two things that make the carpet cleaning a billion dollar industry are the facts that, one, most office buildings and homes built within the last 40 years have wall-to-wall carpet, and two, people always want to maximize their property's potential value and worth and if the property is the carpet then cleaning it far under-weighs the cost of replacing it. (It's much cheaper to clean it that to replace it.)

Many times people will do the vacuuming themselves or have a hired hand, i.e. a janitor, do that part of the regular maintenance cleaning but will periodically have professionals clean the carpet in their fine homes or offices. This is where you come in with your new carpet cleaning business. The demand for this profession is constantly on the incline due to the aforementioned reasons.

Cleaning carpets doesn't take any special education, experience or skill. You should always project a professional and experiences approach to each job; even the very first job you land. All the while, you are making a consistent $300 to $500 per day for you cleaning services. As you get started, you will first need to "sell yourself" and your services. As time goes on, it will be much easier and easier to do that since you are gaining experience the entire time. This is an excellent idea...always keep a picture journal of you completed work as a reference guide for new prospects. Remember that "stories tell and pictures sell"! If you can show some pictures of some very clean homes and office that may, indeed, be worth a thousand words.

The first thing, as in every business, is that you need in customers for you new business. The way to go about that is to first analyze the current ads for the carpet cleaning businesses in you local area/neighborhood. Study the ads and the specials that they usually run. Now you are ready to "set your prices". What we suggest that you do now is get some business cards printed. They do not have to be fancy at all. They do need to emphasize that you do quality work and that no job satisfies you until the customer is satisfied. Try to set aside about 3 hours to go to as many local businesses and ask if you could leave 2 or 3 cards on the checkout counter or at their front desk. Do not spend much time talking to them unless they are proving to be a prospect themselves. You might accidentally pick up a contract, or two, in this procedure...nevertheless, the idea is to get the cards onto as many "walk in traffic" businesses as possible in as short of a time period as possible. The more cards you get out, the better. You may want to take more time to get out more business cards (more cards = more exposure = more contracts/business). You may also have some flyers printed that are 5 1/2 by 8 (one-half pages) so you can put them out in businesses that have more room such as car washes or laundry mats or dry cleaners.

This will get yourcarpet cleaning business started in record speed and get you started for virtually no advertising costs. Later, after you have made a profit, you can invest in newspaper ads or phone book advertising.
