With a tedious history of wasted time, recourses, and manpower, recruitment has long been a costly enterprise. Print advertising of the past (and present) has meant many hours squandered going through numerous unsuitable candidate applications after waiting patiently for publication dates. This, added to the fact that the adverts themselves are rather expensive as it is, means that just getting the recruitment process started is (or was) a rather arduous task. Online Recruitment has offered companies a cost effective, efficient means of hiring staff quickly and easily and is certainly the future of recruitment and the recruitment industry.

Apart from the inexpensive, almost immediate features of advertising online, one of the greatest benefits of web recruitment is the fact that most people viewing adverts are actively seeking a position and will generally be viewing appropriate positions. This means a lot of time saved by being able to reach a more specific group of people much faster. It also means that web recruitment provides a much broader candidate base from which to choose as more people can more effectively apply for more positions. With online recruitment not only offering a cost effective recruitment option to potential employers, but to the applicants themselves by allowing them to apply directly via the internet, the likelihood of a higher number of applications is almost certain. Moreover, by standardising the application procedures and information required, online recruitment makes it much easier for potential employers to find relevant criteria quickly. In this manner, unsuitable candidates are more effectively recognised and sifted out. By being able to cut down the application list to only those suitable candidates needed in a shorter timeframe, not only are businesses able to save money, but time as well. Furthermore, with the international reach afforded by online recruitment, sourcing talent and expertise from other countries is infinitely more possible.

It is not hard to see that, with the many benefits afforded by online recruitment, including time saving, cost cutting, further reach, more significant application numbers, and a easier sorting process, this is most certainly becoming the favoured form of E-recruitment the world over. With companies turning more and more to the internet for all their business needs, it is little wonder that online recruitment has become the leading method for attaining new staff.
