Chain Conveyor Lubrication

Submitted by venkatbabu

If you have a production line, then you might be aware of the common problems that plague it. There are instance of frequent clogging by foreign particulate matter.

Once your chain conveyor belt breaks down, the cost and time taken to get it back up can cause a huge dent in your output and performance.

Why should you bear this when there are newer and better alternatives?

Automated chain conveyor lubrication systems have fast replaced more conventional manual ones and have taken preventive maintenance to the next level.

Now you have a centralized system that can be controlled and used to lubricate the entire belt. The system is extremely effective and identifies the key areas that are subject to frequent particulate contamination.

It then works by providing better lubrication in these parts and also cleans these areas with the conveyor brushes which can be integrated into the system.

The two types

• Positive Displacement Systems: It uses compressed air to deliver the lubricant to the right location. There are several variables within the system like the pressure, quantity and the lubricant cartridge that can be controlled. The lubricant displacement can also be controlled in a positive displacement system.
• Flow proportioning systems: The flow proportioning system has a dual point delivery system which delivers lubricants from the pumping station to the bearing surface. The lubricant delivery is controlled by the metering valve and can be preset or manually controlled. Most flow proportioning systems use a sized piston discharge to deliver the lubricant at the precise location.

Real time updates

With a centralized lubrication system you get complete real time updates with the monitoring system. Chain speed, air pressure, wear level etc can all be delivered to you.
