Security Measures for Phone Hacking Prevention

Submitted by itellas

As phone hacking has been a topic in the news these days, professionals are letting the public know how they can prevent phone hacking on their personal phones. You don't have to be a celebrity or a member of the Royal Family to be hacked for specific purposes. Whether it is as simple as your name being linked to your phone number, or retrieving personal information off of your voicemail, phone hacking is very much a current and serious issue.

You've heard of ways in which to minimally protect your phone via changing your passwords, and changing them regularly. Also, keeping your phone locked after phone calls is a great way in which to protect your information. Although now there are now more sophisticated ways in which to keep your phone private and for your eyes and ears only.

But why would somebody want to hack into an average human being's phone or voicemail? On a general level, hackers often times are just nosey and wish to know what is going on with other individuals. They may or may not know you, but may still be interested in your personal life in some way.

Identity theft is another reason that hackers choose to break into phone communication systems. Nabbing your pin numbers, relative's names, place of work, etc. can prove very inviting for someone considering the theft of an identity. For these reasons and many more here are some great new ways in which to protect you, your family and your personal information on your phone:

First, never call your own cellular phone to check voicemail calls. Even as it may take an extra moment, go into your phone and travel through your voicemail system to access your messages. Recent scandals have proven that it is much safer to enter through voicemail, follow the instructions, enter a pin (that should be changed regularly) to access your information.

Secondly, never use a pin number that is valid for any other access on any other account. This may include that of an ATM pin, online banking password pin, etc. If your pin is scouted by a hacker via your phone, they may then have access to other accounts. As a large majority of people do use the same information for several accounts, this makes hackers attempt these bank and online hacking immediately after grabbing your telephone or voicemail pin.

Lastly, Caller ID spoofing is a great way to protect your personal information. By hiding or manipulating your phone number and account name you can makes calls knowing that your information is safe. Protect yourself, your family and your phone from hackers by following these simple steps. Don't let the stresses of a hacker interfere with your life.
