Most of the states in the United States provide access to criminal records pertaining to the state, to the public, this is the same with the criminal records in the state of Ohio.

In February 2003, a database was created by the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, which contains all the information regarding criminals. Not only this, the state courts have also recently started allowing access to their records. People will now gain access to all civil cases and criminal records that have been tried in the Ohio courts. Ohio ensures that public can access these important records from various sources.

The government of Ohio maintains two websites related to the criminal records, which can be access by the public, one is the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction website, where all the offender information can be found in the database. People can search this database for people who have been convicted in the state of Ohio, and the information includes details such as the name of the person convicted, why he was convicted, when he was convicted and when he was released. People that wish to search in this database will have to provide information, such as the name of the person, any other names, social security number, all the past and current addresses as well as the offender number.

Public are also given access to the criminal records of the state though various websites and this helps people access all sort of information with ease online.

Previously, only the private agencies used to collect data and provide access to the public, but the information was limited; however with the Ohio state government joining the bandwagon, extensive information is found on the databases. This is the easiest and most convenient way of finding criminal record information on people we are either suspicious about or people we are employing.
