Courier companies are employed to deliver messages, packages and mail. Couriers are distinguished from ordinary mail services by features such as speed, security, tracking, signature, specialization and individualization of services, and committed delivery times, which are optional for most everyday mail services. According to courier philippines companies, there are several types of courier companies which employ different modes of transportation. One of the most common type of courier is the use of motorcycles.

In the Philippines, different courier philippines companies employ the use of motorcycles. One popular courier company that uses this is LBC. So why use motorcycles rather than a pick-up truck or just a truck? One major advantage of using motorcycles as courier is that it can easily out-maneuver a heavy traffic, especially when they are transporting goods which is time limited such as medicines or perishable goods. Another advantage of using motorcycle its much more economical than the use of trucks. This is because, usually, motorcycle couriers are built for short deliveries, unlike trucks which is usually employed on long distance deliveries.

Other than courier companies, many establishments have also used motorcycles for delivering their goods such as restaurants. One popular restaurants is PizzHut which gives out 30mins guaranteed delivery or its free. They are giving out this kind of service because they are certain that their delivery will arrive within 30mins. This is what courier philippines companies rely on too.

History of the use of motorcycle courier

At the end of the First World War in 1918, many British Army motorcycle despatch riders of the Royal Corps of Signals were demobilized and found employment difficult to come by. As a result, they purchased military surplus motorcycles, and began couriering in central London. Traffic at that time moved at about 8 miles per hour. Radio controlled couriers came about during the 1971 Royal Mail dispute (strike) when motorcycles were fitted with radios similar to those that equipped mini-cabs. London businesses were pleased with the results and the courier industry took off. Pioneers included Mercury Despatch, Addison-Lee and City of London Courier Company.

Today, computers have played a major role to the success of motorcycle courier. Computers are as impotant a part of the Motorcycle Courier industry,as the bikes and riders.Computer software has evolved inline with customer need. From taking the the order and creating a docket,to allocating the completed job to the the drivers account and then billing the customer. It's all,one seemless operation.
