Driving in New York City

Heavy traffic and expensive rental cars make driving in New York a frustrating experience. You

must wear a seat belt. The Speed limit is 30 mph - which is difficult to exceed becaus of

Manhatten,s pot-holes and traffic. Most streets are one-way, and there are traffic lights at every

corner. Driving is on the right.

To rent a car you must be atleast 25 years old, or pay surcharg. You
will need a valid Driver's License (for foreign visitor's an internatonal driving license is

useful)

3. Valid license


Unless you are adequately covered by your own insurance policy, you should also take out damage

and liability protection, as personal injury lawsuits are very expensive.Also remember to refill

with gas before you return the car or you'll pay double the normal price for fuel.It is cheaper to
