Defining the Spray Painting Process

Spray painting is a procedure, in which a spray gun sprays a paint coating onto the surface of the painted item. There are various kinds of sprayers, which are employed for such painting. While employing gun sprays, it's significant to wear gloves, safety glasses, and even a face mask to elude inhaling the consequent evaporations.

The process used by a spray paint gun is called "Atomization" - spraying the paint onto various superficies. The paint is getting formed by a rotary atomizer, an ultrasonic atomizer, or by being forced through the nozzles via pressure.

Usual paint spraying equipment includes a spray gun, a compressed air system, a pressurized paint container, and flexible tubes that make connection between all of these. The paint container is pressurized and the paint is flowed from it via the tubes to the gun spray. The container's pressure responds for the paint's movement. Atomized air is fed to the spray gun's tip. This air is breaking up the paint into small fractions and pushes it out of the gun to the painted surface.

The types of spray painting equipment include:

- Aerosol or canned spray paint. This is paint is easily available in the market. It is a metal aerosol can with strongly pressurized paint. The paint becomes atomized and is being pushed out of the flap.
- Airbrush spray paint. Here, the compressed air is mixed with the paint, which is then sprayed directly to the painted surface.
- High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) spray guns. This is pretty much like airbrush equipment. But in this case, the air pressure is lower. Therefore, the gun spray demands much less pressure, which results in larger paint volumes being surface applied.
- Low Volume Low Pressure spray guns. Again, this is an attempt to augment the previously described type of gun. This one demands lower pressure and as well provides lower paint volumes to the painted surface.

Paint spray booths are facilities employed for spray painting inside them. Usually, when the operation is conducted, lots of paint is being sprayed into the air. Thus, it might get onto other surfaces that don't need painting.

A usual spray painting booth comprises the spray painting equipment, the surface that's to be painted, and the operator, conducting the process. It's critical to have excellent ventilation and air recovery systems in them. It's all because the booth's air pressure will influence the result of the job, while ventilation will reduce health and fire hazards. The painted surface is kept at open grid flooring, which assures that the surplus paint drips from the surface and then is recycled.
