How often have we bought watches and never given it a thought as to how to take care of them? Your watch will last much longer, and will be in much better condition, if you look after it. Maintenance is important to avoid frequent watch repair of your exorbitant luxury watches and will save your visits to a watch repairer.

Your luxury watches should be maintained by way of services and cleaning at least every two years. Here are some ideas to look after your expensive automatic watches:-

Remove water-resistant watches before showering. (Soap reduces the surface tension of water and allows it to attack seals very effectively)

Check that the crown is screwed in before swimming or bathing. After swimming in the sea or in water containing chlorine, rinse the watch under running tap water.

Avoid extreme fluctuations of temperature, extreme shocks and vibrations. Strap the watch firmly to your wrist.

Try to avoid knocking or indeed dropping your watch on any hard surfaces. Remember it is a precision instrument.

Try to avoid heavy perspiration coming in to contact with your watch. If it does, then wipe it as soon as possible with a soft dry cloth.

Chemical substances, gases, mercury, etc., may change the colour of cases, bracelets and straps. So keep your watches away from such substances.

Avoid lengthy periods in strong magnetic fields. It won't usually affect digital quartz watches, but it can affect analogue watches, as they use a tiny electric motor to turn the hands. Powerful magnetism can affect the performance of this motor.

In the summer weather loosen your leather strap slightly as they will absorb perspiration. If a strap becomes wet with perspiration wipe it with a soft cloth.

Upon removing your watch keep it in a well-ventilated area. Don't leave it in a container or box if still damp with perspiration. Avoid immersing a leather strap in water.

Only entrust the watch to an official clock repair agent or a horology expert providing advanced technology Rolex watch repair, Omega watch repair, Armani watch repair, Timex watch repair services.
