The Best Way On How To Send Fragile ItemsSubmitted by Timothy Gomez Wed, 24 Jun 2009
Ever sent something fragile in a box to the philippines. If you did, what kind of delivery service did you take? If not, then here are some tips if ever you wanted to send something as important to be marked as fragile. Now there are many reasons why would someone send or have something fragile delivered. There is the reason that you may want to live on another place, may it be on another city or on another region, or even on another country. There is also the case in which OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) would buy fragile gifts, such as vases or antique stuff, then send it in a box to the philippines. But how could you be so sure that your gift or your package would arrive with its content still intact?
The first thing that anybody should do is to decide on what kind of delivery service or freight service should you use. To do this, you should determine if your package would be classified as small, medium, or large. If the item is small enough, such as mugs or cups, it could be sent using standard delivery services. Courier service or companies, especially the older and more experienced one, takes every packages or boxes carefully, and signs such as "fragile" would indicate higher importance. If its heavier, over 40 lbs, or more expensive than just a mug or a cup, then it might need more than just standard delivery service. This may involve the use of trucks or any other shipping methods, rather than the use of motorcycles. When sending something fragile in a box to the philippines, it is best to take in more time to prepare the item, regardless of the type of delivery it would be. One should make time to inspect the object for any kind of damages such as cracks, tears, or any other kinds of surface damages. Some suggests taking pictures of the original product, emphasizing that the item has minor damages or none at all. This is done because of cases in which the item could arrive with damages that could be caused by the courier service's carelessness. By having a picture of the original item, the one before having it delivered, one could complain that their item was sent without any kind of damages or have damages, but minimal. After the fragile item is carefully wrapped and the wrapping is secured with tape, then the item should be boxed carefully inside a box that is approximate to its size and shape. You can do this by cutting a larger box down and then carefully folding it and securing it around the fragile item. Don't worry if it isn't perfectly square or if it looks ugly, as this will be inside and looks are not important. Remember you are just creating a structure that will support the fragile item. Usually, what Filipinos do is securing with the use of paper, old newspapers are usually used. This is to make a cushioning effect on the fragile item, much like Styrofoam but cheaper. After all that is done, then the only thing to do is to have it sent by the courier company or service you chose from the first step. Make sure that those pictures have dates in them so as to make it a more reliable evidence when something goes wrong with the item.
