Don't Flounder in a Recession...Flourish!Submitted by lazysubmit Wed, 2 Apr 2008
Many times when I open prominent Internet search engine pages nowadays, I consistently see links to articles for helping people to prepare for Recession. While noble in cause, the tone of these articles fails to be even slightly optimistic. This obvious pessimism is quite disheartening but “don’t worry,” these impertinent compositions contain a few simple tips to follow, not to keep you from floundering in the impending Recession, but to maybe soften the blow. Among the top suggestions offered include brushing up your résumé, putting in extra effort at work and diversifying your portfolio. And don’t get me wrong; I’m all for being prepared, but instead of metaphorically putting on layers of clothing, your best boots and whipping out your umbrella during these tough times, wouldn’t it make more sense to go to the source of the problem and step out of the rain?
We have already begun to see and feel the effects of recession: corporations having large lay-offs, the curbing of new hiring, and lowered consumer confidence all exacerbated by the horrific fall-outs of the mortgage crisis. So if many people in the country have problems keeping their jobs, let alone obtaining new ones, and commodity prices begin to soar, how can the average person maintain their lifestyle and stature as providers? The answer for many of us is that we have no choice but to play outside of the box. Jockeying for position in a sinking ship is not for me. I’d rather secure a lifeboat. One great option for creative, determined and persistent individuals is to start a home-based business. Starting a home-based business may not only keep you from getting financially gouged in the coming year but may help you prosper even when the rest of the country continues to sink. The low overhead makes home-based businesses much more feasible to start than a traditional business that requires a large start-up loan. Many can be started for a couple hundred to a few thousand dollars and maintained for much less if properly put into action. Another benefit, ever so important during a Recession, is that you are paid by performance and merit, not hourly, with a massive earning potential equal to your willingness to learn, creativity, determination and dedication. Now may be a better time than ever to start your own home-based business. As times worsen, there are many more people out there looking to make extra money and may be more open to joining your opportunity. When times are good, many people don’t stretch outside of their comfort zone but may be forced out of necessity soon to explore other options. If you join a network marketing company, you may be able to not only recruit more easily; you may also have a higher retention rate in your team. Few will put their business on the backburner if it is making them even a little cash with the incentive of much more on the way. Sure, you may lose some product clients who feel the product is an unnecessary expense, but your team of reps won’t be so eager to skip. But remember, not all home-based businesses are created equal. Make sure to do your homework. There are some great opportunities out there, but there are just as many scams. Make no mistakes; this will be work. Success in this industry requires what other industries require: education, creativity, initiative and flexibility, but the rewards and freedom are too amazing to let them pass you by. Start now to build your fortune and enjoy a future of unimaginable prosperity. About the Author
