Get Innovative with CD and DVD Packaging Technology

Submitted by technofile

Books may not be judged by its cover, but when it comes to CDs and DVDs, first impressions are almost always based on their covers and why CD and DVD packaging technology has become a critical factor in the optical media business.

Lenticular Effects from IGH Solutions
Lenticular effects are basically produced by using special lens to view a combination of at least two images and consequently create a certain animation effect. The special lens makes you see only a certain part of the image at a certain angle. Try changing direction and moving the cover and the image will change as if it has just moved.

Believe it or not but lenticular technology has been around as early as the 1600's, but the images then were hand-painted. By early 20th century, however, photographs were used and the first modern lenses for lenticular use were introduced in the 1930's.

Since then, lenticular technology has come a long way and the optical media industry was able to greatly benefit from its advances. Today, DVD covers may feature large-format photographic quality, vivid 3D effects, and even full-motion video captures.

IGH Solutions offer clients a variety of creative options for their DVD covers. Flipping refers to 2-Phase and 3-Phase animation. Its effects are simple yet spectacular and up to three images may be used for each cover.

Morphing allows for the gradual transition from one image to another and may be accompanied with an impressive "twirling" effect. With zoom effects, images can grow or shrink right before your very eyes.

There are a lot more in store from IGH Solutions; all you need is to explore your imagination!

Get Eco-Friendly with Covert Images and Pack Smart Inc.
The two aforementioned companies have recently joined forces to produce a unique packaging and specialty machine that's powered by solar panels.

Converted Images president Brian Weinstein says that its eco-friendly technology recycles heat rather than emitting it so that little energy is wasted in the production process.

Besides producing CD and DVD packaging, the 45-foot-long machine has also been used for affixing teabags to brochures, Braille embossing, and windowed carton attachment.

Pack Smart Inc. is renowned for producing graphic arts finishing equipment with world class designs. Converted Images is a specialty finishing firm that is best known for producing high quality packaging used for a variety of products, including but not limited to die cut tabs, pocket folders, inlay cards, and folding cartons.
