Improving Management Skills

Submitted by diggy
Thu, 8 Jan 2009

Business management is a jewel with many prisms. Managing day-to-day business operations and, if applicable, personnel issues and staffing require constant upgrading of management skills. A business coach can point out flaws in management styles that may be obstacles to successful business operation or higher levels of employee productivity. Business management should accent the root word "manage". What is manageable is always the best path to business profitability and staffing excellence. Thus, business coaches provide suggestions for the most enduring management styles. In the past, the mantra for business management was MBO--Management by Objective. Along with other management concepts, MBO sounded great. But, MBO didn't take into consideration that any objective managed should be sustainable over the long term.

Today, business management concepts are less jargon and more implementable applied technique. The key to good business management requires vigilance of the inter-relationship between performance, productivity and goals. As an example, the multi- tasking concept is viable only if personnel have the dexterity and mental and physical motor skills to juggle multiple tasks. Otherwise, the end result is lackluster output and neutralized productivity. And, it's important to remember that attempting to catapult 100% of the staff into equalized performance and productivity levels results in robotic management, diminished business morale and impacts overall profitability. With proper business coaching, management aspires to a highly implementable applied technique maintained over longer business periods. Preparation for management changes begin with willingness to adapt to new techniques. A business coaching franchise offers the opportunity to provide solid business suggestions.
