Know More about Oil Refining Process

Submitted by johnmak
Tue, 22 Jun 2010

There can be several uses of oil for various purposes. Some of the uses include burning oil to run our cars or heating fuels for our home and businesses. The rawest form of the oil comes from the earth and is commonly known as crude oil. The crude oil is then transported to oil refining plants. In these plants, oil goes under oil refining process where it changes from one state to another. There are various conditions that must be in place in order for the changes to occur.

The first condition required for oil refining process is the heating conditions. In this condition, the oil companies ensure maintaining the required temperature. During the heating process, the crude oil will be separated. It results into a distillate and this distillate can have numerous uses.

The components of the crude oil are changed into vapors. After these vapors condense they fall back to the heating container. Here they can be separated and used as other oil products. The various byproducts of the refining oil lead to petroleum, ligroin, kerosene and also naphtha. These different byproducts come from the same substance. The single difference is their formation because of the employed heating pressure. After the boiling point has been reached the oil companies concentrate on the temperature gauge.

By considering this point they can avoid the entire evaporation of the oil or even worse the sudden bursting into flames as the crude oil and its byproducts explodes. The location of the oil refining plant should be at such as place where any oil leakages will not drastically affect the surface of the earth.

A thorough safety and security checks of the oil refining plant ensures the safe follow of oil refining process and also keep the plant workers safe. There are various incidents in the past resulted into shut down of the production because of various reasons.
